Growing old is a natural process and a phase of human life cycle.
Senior citizens are the assets of the society with their pool of varied experiences, knowledge and ideas; there is a great and urgent need to protect the rights of the elderly. Elderly Care as the name signifies is taking care of the special requirements of senior citizens. This is an age when they require help and assistance in their daily activities and special attention on their health issues. Lack of proper health care of the aged is a major cause of concern. The problems which affect the aged are financial, physical, mental and social.
Despite various laws related to senior care, like Section 125 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973, Section 20 of the Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act, 1956, and the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 much remains to be done.
The Government of India through various schemes has tried to build a strong support system for elderly persons, e.g., old age pension, income tax, health care, travel discount, high interest on investment, special scheme etc. but the benefits of the schemes have not made much impact in the reduction of problems and abuse faced by the aged. We want to generate consciousness for the need of old age homes with clean and proper infrastructure and other Elderly Care Services.
We hope to ensure that they receive adequate care and do not suffer from any kind of abuse or violation of their rights. We aim to protect and promote the human rights of the elderly by providing them a support system and hope more and more people join us and support us in our endeavor.
